Perry “PK” Kastanias Perry C. Kastanias, 81 of Millvale passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016. Dear Son of the late Christ and Nancy (McCoy) Kastanias. Loving Father of Kimberly (John) Digges and Niki (Andy) McFall. Grandfather of Carolyn (Jeff), Joey, Perry, Caitlin, Sheridan, and Alexa. Dear Brother of Daphne, Mariam, Christine, Catherine, Nick, Nancy, Chris, and the late Sophia, Joann, and Stella. Perry was born and raised in Verona, PA. He was a star running back on the Penn Hills High School football team in 1953 and received a college football scholarship. Perry won the Pittsburgh Golden Glove Championship which was the scene for the infamous photograph “Lights Out.” He went on from there to become a professional boxer and trained under Angelo Dundee. Perry proudly served our country in the Air Force. He married Patricia Mekeel and with their two daughters they resided in Verona and later in Monroeville. He became an iron worker and worked on not only many of the bridges in Pittsburgh but also throughout the country.Perry enjoyed being with his brothers and sisters and treasured all of their family dinners and outings. He loved being with his grandchildren and attended many of their football and baseball games and dance recitals. He was an avid golfer and he was also a loyal member of Eagles and Moose Clubs. The iron of Pittsburgh flowed through his veins and he embraced his city and everything about this including cheering on the Steelers and Pirates. We will all miss you PK.Friends and relatives are invited to a memorial visitation on Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 11 a.m. until time of 1 p.m. Memorial service in the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC. 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont.
