Balawejder, Lorraine (Mock)

Lorraine (Mock) Balawejder, 62 of Springdale, died late Wednesday afternoon, June 7, 2017 at her residence. Born in New Kensington on April 20, 1955, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Louise (Mehal) Mock. She lived her life with honesty, integrity, quiet strength, unstoppable work ethic and an understated sense of humor. She loved every day, and demanded that her family live, love and carry on, enjoying coffees on the front porch, donuts on Sunday mornings, first snowfalls of the year, crisp autumn days, folk music, and quiet conversations about the important things in life. She cherished her days as a proud member of the St. Alphonsus Mother's Club and loved crafting at church festivals, spaghetti dinners, Saturday night mass, and the long version Easter Vigil readings. Her faith kept her fearless through a four-and-a-half year encounter with advanced stage breast cancer. Each step was supported by a team of angels—doctors, nurses, friends—for whom she would wish to offer heartfelt gratitude. She never questioned her path, and she would want those who knew her and loved her to continue on with that same spirit. This was not a ‘battle’ to be won or lost; it was simply a road to walk down with curiosity and love for each day. Her husband Bruce, daughter Emily, son Adam, daughter-in-law Emily, sister Elaine and pup Lucy will miss her each day, but find comfort knowing that she is at peace. In honor of the way she lived life, enjoy a simple pleasure this day and feel the warmth of an angel smiling down on you. “Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will take care of itself.” -Matthew 6:34. Private interment was in Deer Creek Cemetery, Harmar Township following a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Springdale. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Susan G. Komen 1133 S Braddock Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15218 or St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 750 Pittsburgh St. Springdale, PA 15144.
