HASTINGS GAIL SCHINDLER, Gail Hastings, age 84, of Penn Hills, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017. She was born on September 20, 1933 to the late Jean and Clyde Schindler in Pittsburgh. Beloved wife for 61 years of the late James N. Hastings; loving mother of Jim (Darlene) Hastings and Dan (Cheryl) Hastings; grandmother of Jason, Corinne, Aaron, Cherie, and William Hastings, and John Hruska. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her brother, Donald. Gail received her BS in Education from Clarion State Teachers College (now known as Clarion University) majoring in English with a minor in Speech. She was a member of the sorority Delta Zeta. Following graduation, she taught high school before becoming a full-time homemaker. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and member of both East Liberty Presbyterian Church and Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the choir. Gail was a Life Master in Duplicate Bridge where she maintained life-long friendships and mentored beginning bridge players. Friends and relatives are invited to a memorial service on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, 384 Fox Chapel Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15238.
