Richard L. Garboden, 86 of Longwood at Oakmont and formerly of Murrysville passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018. Beloved Husband for 24 years of Jane (Gerneth) Phillips Garboden, M.D. and the late Harriett (Whitfield) Garboden who preceded him in death on November 4, 1988. Loving Father of James W. Garboden. He was the Step-Father of Richard A. Phillips and his children, Kathryn (Michael) Bayliss and Paul M. Phillips. Brother of the late Ruth Meyers, William and Clifton Garboden. Uncle of William J. (Sally) Garboden. The family wishes to offer a special thank you to Mark Peconi and the staff from Care at Home. Richard proudly served our country during the Korean War in the United States Navy on the USS Coral Sea as a fire control tech. He owned and operated Garboden Construction for many years as a self-employed contractor. He was a member of F & AM Lodge Infinity 546 in Penn Hills and was also a Shriner for many years. Friends and relatives will be received on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC. 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, March 2, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Verona with the Rev. Edwin Wichman officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Penn Hills. Memorial donations may be made in his name to Longwood at Oakmont, 500 Route 909, Verona, PA 15147
