Hetrick, Joanne Bash

Joanne Bash Hetrick died June 23, 2018 at her home in Oakmont, PA. Joanne was born to John and Augusta Bash on July 29, 1933 in Gary, Indiana. Joanne is survived by her husband of 64 years, William J. (Bill) Hetrick, sons Robert W. (Dr. Barbara) Hetrick, Dr. James A. (Karen) Hetrick and daughter, Molly A. Hetrick (Mehdi) Tadayon. Joanne had three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Marta Hetrick (Justin) Callies, Jahan Hetrick Tadayon, Jared Hetrick Tadayon, Otto Rudolf Callies and Felix August Callies. Her brother, John F. Bash and his wife Ernestine, live in Maine. Joanne graduated from the Presbyterian School of Nursing in 1954. She was called to the Vocational Deaconate and ordained in 1983 by the Rt. Rev. Alden M. Hathaway, Bishop of Pittsburgh. Deacon Joanne served for many years at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church. She and another Deacon instituted a hospital ministry program, visiting the major hospitals of Pittsburgh on a regular schedule. Joanne was the first Chaplain on the staff of Forbes Hospice and instituted a bereavement ministry for the families of Hospice patients. She then served as Chaplain at UPMC St. Margaret Hospital for many years. The family wishes to thank the wonderful care and support received from Barbara Kevish MD and Christa Cerra DNP-FNP of the Renaissance Family Practice, all of the compassionate staff from Bridges Hospice and the consistent care provided by Lynne Dodson RN. They are forever grateful for the warm support of their loving friends, neighbors and community during this time. Friends will be received on Friday, June 29 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC. 421 Allegheny Avenue Oakmont. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 30 at 10 am at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, 378 Delaware Avenue Oakmont, officiated by The Reverend John Bailey, Rector of Christ our Hope Anglican Church in Natrona Heights and The Reverend Jeffrey D. Murph, Rector of St. Thomas. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH.
